Buckwheat Banana Pancakes Recipe

Olive + Wisteria

These last few weeks have been a complete and total whirlwind! With two portfolios due, a mass of school assignments, extracurricular activities and a vacation thrown right in the middle, I’ve had almost no time to myself. Fortunately, it’s starting to wind down (thank God!).

The Greater Brillance of Dave Chappelle

1

Cross Thought

If you do something right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all. That is the greater brilliance of Dave Chappelle. He is a differentiated comic whose introspection and thoughtfulness open the door to a deeper meaning of comedy, if the viewer choses to engage it. With his incredible comedic range, from jokes about the vulgar to deep thoughts about the meaning of race relations and marriage in America, Chappelle can attract anyone with his magnetic and intimate style.

There are few 21st century pop culture figures as intriguing as Dave Chappelle. Of course you could take his act at face value, but I found that the more you try to dig in and understand who he really is you are left more questions than when you started. His mysterious persona is intertwined with his genius because as a viewer you are unable to tell who the real…

I want to kill my Husband

The 'not-so' Newly Wed

Well… not literally.

Maybe literally.

They say you only ever truly know someone once you’ve either travelled with them, lived with them or married them. What they left out is that will be when you find out who YOU are, too.

So far I’ve learned that I need nausea pills for the take-off, chew almost half the packet of chewing gum in order to avoid my ears from cracking, and I love couch potato-ing more than I would like to admit. I will also kill my Husband.

That is if I didn’t actually love him, of course. (Or was afraid of prison. Or blood.) Let’s be honest, at some point in your marriage, you have thought about murdering your loved one. Where you have gotten so ANGRY; not upset, not irritated but so ANGRY that you could probably be capable of first degree murder. You would probably have thought about how…

How To Make Your Lipstick Last All Day

Simply Audree Kate

SimplyAudreeKate.lips.

Lipstick has become a beauty staple for me the past few years. I wear it almost every day, and I get a lot of questions from friends and readers which types of lipsticks I wear and how I actually make it last all damn day. My friends are always pretty surprised that I can go most of the day, while eating and drinking, and still have my lips pretty much fully intact. So today, I am sharing  5 steps that will make you lipstick stand the test of time…or until you decide to wash your face. See below!

SimplyAudreeKate_0973

1. Exfoliate and moisturize
I wash my face every night, and I always make sure to exfoliate my lips because wearing lipstick as often as I do, it can easily dry out my lips. Some people use lip scrubs, but I found that using  a washcloth and water works just as well and is a cheaper, easier way…

The Golden Rule of Investing

Dividend Income Investors

What is the “Golden Rule of Investing”?

“Think of all money you earn as a Potential source of Future Income”

Don’t think in terms of how much money you have or have saved but rather how much money you can generate from what you have.

In other words, when you receive your pay check, of course you have to pay your bills. And some bills you will always have – electric, water, gas, phone, mortgage but those that you don’t is where you can get the money to finance your future.  A great example is your car. A lot of people buy a car – and of course they buy into the marketing that owning that luxury or high priced sports car is more fulfilling somehow. But what you need to consider how much future income did you give up for that little bit of prestige you got from…

7 Things To Know When Eating Sushi

Food & Fitness Girls

IMG_4070

I love sushi. I would hands down have this a staple diet and eat it every single day of my entire life. The combination of fresh ingredients, not to mention rice that’s been perfectly rolled forming beautifully shaped pieces of art.

Despite this masterpiece I actually found out that there are a lot of rules when it comes to eating sushi. I unfortunately was not brought up with this etiquette but I’m learning these rules slowly…

Handroll

So far I abide by these rules:

  1. Always dip the fish side into the soy sauce – reason, seems to be inconclusive but many believe it is because dipping rice into the soy sauce will cause the piece of sushi to become fragile, hence destroying the finely craft piece of food.
  2. Don’t rub your chopsticks together – I’ve been brought up in a Chinese environment, there’s literally so many rules regarding chopsticks, this apparently…

Core Exercises: Sit-ups as Targeted Approach to Decreased Abdominal Adiposity?

Strength University

The sit-up exercise, through many years, has been chosen by many as a “spot reducing” exercise for the mid-section. When you walk into fitness facilities, you would see dozens of people on the floor, crunching away, thinking that they would get nice, tight abs by doing repetition-after-repetitions of the sit-up exercise. However, many research suggests that energy balance is still the key to weight loss and decreasing risk factors for obesity, (4).

Creamy Pesto Pasta Primavera With Shrimp (BLW Contributor)

IMG_20170304_183600572

On a recent Rachael Ray Show with guest Emeril Lagasse, they made a pasta primavera with saffron cream featuring one of my favorite vegetables, asparagus. Asparagus is in its seasonal prime right now and looking its glorious best; skinny smooth stalks and tight heads with no signs of flowering or wilting. And if the sight of gorgeous asparagus isn’t enough, Rachael gives it even more sex appeal by cutting it on a bias! The audience swoons…

When I attended public school back in the Jurassic Period, we had enough time in the day to take elective classes in art and music. During the ceramics chapter, my art teacher tasked us with making our favorite food out of clay. Amid an abundance of kiln-fired pizza, popcorn, hot dogs, and hamburgers on display at the end of the week was my realistically sculpted, painted green stalk of asparagus. It turns out I…

If you are going to make a ham this easter please do try this recipe. It was a hairy biker recipe.
