One-Pan Dinner: Salmon, Green Beans & Potatoes

There are a lot of things I love about spring – flowers, thunderstorms, open windows and… veggies being in season! I love eating green beans raw, and springtime is when they get really good – especially here in Wisconsin. They are on my short list to plant in our garden this year, so I can’t wait to try this recipe again with homegrown beans!

We’re always looking for healthy, easy meals to make during the week and if you love beans and salmon, this is something that I would recommend trying!

What You Need

This recipe was for just Casey and myself – using only one pan, and it was the perfect amount of food + leftover veggies! You could make more, but you’d obviously need more than one pan, which would defeat the purpose. 😉

Stop taking relationship advice from men

I wish women would stop taking relationship advice from ‘men’. And by this I mean men who are unqualified. These men are not Counsellors, Psychotherapists’ or Psychologists. They don’t know JACK about you or your partner.  But they are perambulating as relationship experts on social media and even on TV. Some of them are labeling themselves as lifestyle coaches with little qualification to show.  And worst still, a lot of these men have terrible track records of being awful partners to very many women. And you know what? Some women are doing it now too, they are on Facebook live, Instagram live! Talking about how you ought to ‘do’ your man!

  • Positive emotions, consisting of contentment with the past, current happiness, hope for the future.
  • Positive traits, such as courage, resilience, curiosity, self-knowledge, integrity, compassion, and creativity.
  • Positive institutions, such as community institutions, which can benefit from focusing on the tools developed in positive psychology research.

Positive Psychology: The Evidence on Happiness

Here are some research results that contribute to the field of positive psychology:

  • Activities bring more happiness than possessions. A survey of 150 young adults showed that when asked to rate the happiness value of purchases they hoped would be pleasurable, experience-type purchases, such as trips or meals, outranked objects.
  • Being wealthy does not make you more likely to be happy than other people, as long as everyone’s income is above the poverty level.
  • Grateful people are more likely to be healthy, helpful, and have a greater sense of well-being.
  • Seeing other people do good things makes us want to do good too.
  • An optimistic outlook reduces the risk of physical and emotional health problems.

‘Beauty is only skin deep’ they say. Then why is it that every emphasis is placed upon the appearance of a woman? The definition of that proverb is that a pleasing appearance is not a guide to character. When I ‘discover’ on Instagram all I literally see are females prancing about in their underwear, butts and boobs I like to call them.

The female essence had been reduced to butts and boobs…doesn’t that just make us proud? Look at yourself and say ‘I am a butt’ or ‘I am a boob’. Thats just makes me cringe to be honest. When we sit back and think about what we believe to be a attractive, we see that it’s all merely physical.

The other day at work, my colleague and I were caught up in a discussion on love and relationships. While our conversation touched on everything from modern dating to the rising rates of divorce, she left me with a thought that latched to my mind and took the rest of the week to finally pry off. Just before grabbing her purse to leave she casually said; “I think love is just an illusion.”

This took me completely off guard. Love? An Illusion?! I found the concept simultaneously depressing and intriguing. But worst of all, highly probable.
