I love sushi. I would hands down have this a staple diet and eat it every single day of my entire life. The combination of fresh ingredients, not to mention rice that’s been perfectly rolled forming beautifully shaped pieces of art.

Despite this masterpiece I actually found out that there are a lot of rules when it comes to eating sushi. I unfortunately was not brought up with this etiquette but I’m learning these rules slowly…

  1. Always dip the fish side into the soy sauce – reason, seems to be inconclusive but many believe it is because dipping rice into the soy sauce will cause the piece of sushi to become fragile, hence destroying the finely craft piece of food.

I chuckle to myself when I past by the produce section in my grocery store. I normally wouldn’t even be in the general vicinity of fruits and vegetables, but it is my only route to the candy isle.

I cannot lie about my pass, however. I used to eat my veggies. A proud mother I made her: There were no peas or carrots left on my plate.

With a career spanning 17 years he has showcased his work in London, Paris, Berlin, New York, Japan and all over Australia in over 100 exhibitions. Formerly a self taught stencil artist Josh refocused his career to establishing Espionage Gallery, an Art Gallery based in Adelaide, South Australia showcasing both emerging and well established local, interstate and international artists. For 4 years he showcased over 600 artists from over 20 countries.

Honey, Mustard and Marmalade Roast Ham Recipe

This was the first time I had made my own marmalade ham and it will be my go to recipe now. It was so delicious it was sticky and sweet with delicious mustard notes. The meat was so tender and the caramalisation on the outside is really addictive. The ham only lasted 2 days and I couldn’t help picking at the meat. If you are going to make a ham this easter please do try this recipe. It was a hairy biker recipe.

Ingredient’s

  • 1.5kg gammon joint (mine was smoked)
  • carton of orange juice
  • 16 cloves
  • 2 onions, peeled and halved
  • 3 bay leave’s

For the glaze

  • 120g soft brown sugar
  • 3 oranges, zest of 3, juice of 2
  • 3 tbsp clear honey
  • 3 heaped tbsp marmalade
  • 3 tbsp wholegrain mustard

It’s March, which means multiple things. March Madness is about to begin (finally), spring break is on the horizon, and the weather is warming up. Or… staying warm since we never had a real winter this year. With warmer weather comes the inspiration to be outside with nature, and what better way to enjoy the beautiful outdoors than caking your hands in the remnants of charcoal and coating your being with the scent of smoke?

Grilling is an art and takes more than just practice to perfect. There are multiple steps that don’t even include the meat. If you want the most tender, most flavorful steak, the majority of your time will be in preparation and not in actually having the meat on the grill.

Nutella Stuffed Pancakes Recipe

Pancakes make up a large part of my diet. Whether they are thin crepes dusted with sugar and spritzed with lemon, small and squat scotch pancakes with fresh berries and syrup or big fat and American style filled with juicy blueberries – I’ll take the lot. Quite why you’d want to reserve pancakes for just one day is beyond me! These little beauties came about after the remains of a jar of Nutella called to me in a way that only Nutella can. While Nutella smothered on top of a pancake is a glorious thing – an oozing centre is the ultimate indulgence. I’ve flavoured mine with orange zest and vanilla but they work just as well plain.

Ingredients
Makes four large pancakes or eight small
400 self raising flour
100g caster sugar
1 tsp baking soda
3 large eggs
1 orange
1 tsp vanilla bean paste
150ml whole milk

Artsy Fartsy – Wall Street’s ‘Fearless Girl’ statue – What are your thoughts?

According  to CNN, “Fearless Girl” was installed Tuesday by State Street Global Advisors as part of the asset-manager’s campaign to increase the number of women on their clients’ corporate boards. 

A group of women who work together also came to the financial district to see the statue on International Women’s Day. “We really like the little girl standing up to the bull,” one said. 

A man who works nearby said, “I have two daughters and I thought it was pretty impressive that they have this up here.”

“Fearless Girl” wasn’t the only one overwhelmed by attention. The woman who created her, artist Kristen Visbal, says she’s been inundated with calls and emails from fans. 

Visbal said that team behind the campaign,which includes the advertising agency McCann NY, approached her to design a statue of a young girl. “We were focusing on making a statement about the future of Wall Street,” she said. “We wanted this wonderful contrast,” she said, between the delicate child and the aggressive bull. 

“I think the fact that she’s a child makes the figure much more endearing.” 

Visbal was particularly moved by an image of young girl wearing a cape and posing beside the statue. 

“The whole project is about girl power,” she said. “I love that phrase, because it makes us a lot stronger if we are in unison.” 

Anne McNally, SSGA’s head of public relations for North America, told CNNMoney that the group has a permit that allows the statue to remain in place for one week, but that they are seeking an extension that would keep “Fearless Girl” in place for a month. 

“After that, it’s up to the city,” she said. “We would be very supportive of a permanent installation as a piece of art.”
