The six games, which were announced Thursday during a special ceremony in Rochester, were chosen by a committee composed of journalists, scholars and video game industry members who based their decision on a selection of criteria: icon status, longevity, geographical reach and wider influence on culture.

The committee considered some of these games to also be trailblazers in their genre.

TRAIN, EAT, REST, REPEAT – FOOD THAT BOOST YOU BRAIN POWER

Be Like Water

Here are seven foods you should add to your regular diet if you want to keep firing on all cylinders. These foods may not make you smarter, but they’ll help you stay sharp and think clearly–especially when you’ve been glued to your desk for 12 hours.

  1. Salmon. This is one of the best brain foods out there. Salmon is rich in Omega 3 essential fatty acids that have been shown to enhance memory and cognition. Plus, Omega 3s have anti-inflammatory properties that have been shown to reduce the incidence of heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. Shoot for three servings of wild Alaskan salmon a week.
  2. Flax. This plant-based source of Omega 3 is perfect for vegetarians and vegans. Not only does flax improve brain function, but it helps reduce inflammation and improve circulation. Flax also helps lower cholesterol and balance blood sugar, making it a great supplement to include in…

The Truth Hurts – Things to Eliminate from your Life Immediately

11

elimn-700x360

1. NEGATIVE PEOPLE.

I think it’s important to keep people in your life who hold your feet to the fire and want to see you achieve your dreams and be the best person you can be. There’s a solid difference between those kinds of people and negative people. Negative people think you’ll fail because they don’t trust you. Negative people don’t even really want you to succeed.

2. CARING ABOUT YOUR MISTAKES.

Learning from your mistakes is crucial for growing and preventing those mistakes in the future, but don’t get hung up on it.

3. WORRYING ABOUT THE PAST.

Similar to caring about your mistakes, don’t sweat the past. It happened. You can’t go back in time.

4. YOUR SELF IMAGE.

I used to have real self image problems, but I didn’t fix it by forcing a more positive image on myself. I just stopped having a self image. It’s been incredible. I just don’t care anymore. Leads to some interesting outfits, sure, but life is way more relaxed.

5. FEELING SORRY.

If you find yourself apologizing over things you shouldn’t be apologizing for, just knock it off. You’re brainwashing yourself into believing a false reality where you’re always at fault. You aren’t. Quit with the sorry.

6. SAYING YES.

If you don’t want to. Don’t be weak in the face of the hard ask. Just say no if you don’t want to.

7. TRYING TO IMPRESS EVERYONE.

You’re probably just fine how you are. No need to dress to impress.

8. SAYING WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR.

Hey, be honest. If you have something to say, say it. There’s no need to sugar coat your thoughts and feelings. Be out there, out loud, and real with people. They’ll respect you for it.

9. YOUR LIMITING BELIEFS.

One thing that tends to derail me is the belief that now isn’t the right time. Now is now, and the best time to start anything you want to do is at this moment. Don’t let core beliefs slow you down. They’re here to lift you up, not hold you down.

10. WORRYING ABOUT THE FUTURE.

The future is coming one way or the other. Be ready for it, but don’t spend your time in worry about it. It won’t do you any good at all.

Jon Jones gets pulled over by the Police, violating his Probation [Video] What are your thoughts on the video?

According to TMZJon Jones was booked in New Mexico for violating his probation and posed for a brand new mug shot after turning himself in.

We’re told a judge had issued a warrant for the UFC star’s arrest for violating the terms of his probation after he was cited for drag racing in Albuquerque last week.

Jones was sentenced to probation last year after being convicted in a hit and run case in which the UFC star crashed into a pregnant woman’s car and then ran from the scene on foot.

One of the terms of Jones’ probation was to not get into any trouble with the law — and the judge felt the drag racing citation qualified as a violation.

What are your thoughts on the video? Do you think Jon or the policeman should have handled it differently?

Comedian, Bill Cosby released on a $1 Million Bond on a Felony Sexual Assault Charge – What are your thoughts on the matter or the man?

According to Reuters, Bill Cosby was charged on Wednesday with sexually assaulting a woman after paying her with drugs and alcohol in 2004, marking the only criminal case against the once-beloved performer whose father-figure persona has been tainted by dozens of misconduct accusations.

Cosby, 78, walking with a cane and accompanied by two lawyers, appeared for his arraignment hours later at a courthouse in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia, where he posted a $1 million bond, turned over his passport and was ordered to avoid any contact with his accuser.

Smiling and politely thanking District Court Judge Elizabeth McHugh at the end of the brief proceeding, Cosby left the courthouse and was driven to a nearby police precinct to be finger-printed and booked.

He emerged from the police station 10 minutes later and was whisked away in the same black sport utility vehicle that had delivered him to the courthouse. He made no statements as a throng of reporters shouted questions at him.

He is due to return to court on Jan. 14 for a preliminary hearing.

What are your thoughts on the matter or the man?

Benefits of Drinking Coffee before Exercising – Happy Espresso Day!!!

3

The study basically simulated your average morning: a mug of coffee to wake up, a little gym time, another cup with breakfast, followed by lunch. Fourteen participants completed two moderate workouts on a stationary bike: one where they took caffeine (equal to two 8-ounce cups of coffee or 4 cups of black tea) 90 minutes before the workout, and one where they took a placebo. When caffeinated, the participants reported the ride as way easier than it was without the stimulant.

Coffee before Exercising:

1) Enhanced Performance

Time and time again, caffeine has been proven to be a powerful ergogenic aid – that is, something which contributes to improved performance during high intensity exercise.

Studies reveal that after caffeine consumption, athletes can train for much longer and with more power/speed.

2) Boosts Focus

A pre-workout cup o‘ Joe can also boost mental focus during exercise.

Combined with the increase in endurance and power/speed provided, this can lead to extremely productive workout sessions, as you huff and puff with the seeming intensity of an international athlete.

3) Accelerate Fat Loss

Another benefit of taking a cup of coffee prior to lacing up your trainers is that caffeine is proven to provide a range of fat loss benefits.

Coffee can help burn fat as, during exercise, it causes the body to use fat cells for energy as opposed to glycogen.

What’s more, a caffeine intake correlates with increase metabolism, which forces your body to burn more calories during the day, and it also suppresses appetite, satiating those cravings which are oh so bad for your waistline!

4) Diminished Muscle Pain

Studies also show that a pre-workout injection of caffeine can lead to decreased muscle soreness when exercising.

So whether you’re pumping iron or racing down the tarmac, a cup of coffee will help you perform more reps and allow you to run for further with less muscular pain, resulting in a much more effective workout.

According to ABC News, a woman from New Jersey welcomed her 110th birthday with what she says is one of the keys to her longevity – a beer.

Agnes Fenton turned 110 on Saturday. She celebrated at her home in Englewood, surrounded by some of the more 40 children she helped raise during her years as a nanny.

When she was asked for the secret to a long life, she kept it simple.

“Ain’t no secret, just keep in touch with God and do the right thing, that’s all I know,” says Fenton.

In an interview for her 105th birthday, Fenton told ABC News she had enjoyed a beer and whiskey every day for decades.
