IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO HAVE THIS MOVIE SPOILED FOR YOU, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COME BACK TO THIS ARTICLE ONCE YOU’VE SEEN THE MOVIE

Before we begin, let me admit to four different things:

  1. I enjoy superhero movies
  2. I did not read comic books growing up
  3. I am not a film critic
  4. I did not read or watch any reviews before writing this piece

Knowing that this is my lens should help explain my reaction to this and other superhero movies. Also, this will be more of a broad overview; for actual story points, go see the movie.

  2. Okay, So I did read comic books growing up… fine, I still read them and I am nearly 50. I do not like superhero/ comic book movies. To me they are a cheap jab at the super fan wallet. ESPECIALLY the x men.
I feel that all superhero movies have the same movie premise, and do not vary enough to be interesting (with a few exceptions: Conan the Barbarian, The Punisher, Special to name my top three). They very much cater to the 14 year old boy mentality that we should all have living well inside our souls.
One could say I am jaded, even. Suicide Squad made me want to throw greasy messy things at the writers and directors of that piece of… work(?). And do not get me started on the ironman franchise.
With all of that being said, I think I have been sold on seeing this movie about Logan. Dark and violent is how superhero movies should be. They should have an edge that makes that stupid inner 14 year old second guess about running around in a speedo and cape. More superhero movies need to be rated R, simply for the violence alone.
Yes, I think I might have to get this movie on the Firestick! Thanks.
