“As you Wish..”

Romantic Films of All-Time

Written by: Ryan Fu @fu_beatz

Valentine’s Day is less then a week away and whether or not you like celebrating the day for lovers or haters, we have a list of romantic movies that you can enjoy or cry by yourself or with your significant other. You might consider these films more then romantic flicks because each film captures a moment of time when we were in a different place or mind frame about our relationships. Back in high school watching Gone with the Wind in class, I thought this was the most boring and dull movie I have ever seen. But now in my thirties watching Gone with the Wind is a joy because it’s a classic. We have comprised a list in no particular order, the most romantic films of all-time. Some films on the list you might have seen more then once and some films you have never seen before because you thought it was too cheesy. So, grab that box of Kleenex and that gallon of ice cream and cuddle up with him or her or Fido.

Check out our Fun Facts and Trivia about Valentine’s Day

    They’re all American!

I have never – not once – made it through Sleepless in Seattle without falling asleep. I don’t know why, but it bores me to tears.

The Princess Bride is fun until you take note of the scene where he raises his hand to her. In the original book, he actually beats her. How romantic!

  2. thegeekypunk says:

“valley Girl” or “The Notebook” would be my top two choices. 🙂

  3. Pamela says:

    Love the notebook. Great list

  4. sippernotes says:

I’m more the irreverent sort. We’ll be watching the mid-season start of The Walking Dead.

  5. Great list. My favorite is The Bridges of Madison County, even though I can’t get through it without crying.

  6. piratepatty says:

Gone with the Wind. I don’t watch Romance movies. We’ll be binge watching Vikings!

  7. Hear me out on this one….The Longest Ride starring Clint Eastwood’s son. Cried like a baby.

    Some of my recommendations:
    1) Ghajini (2008)- Hindi film starring Aamir Khan and Asin Thottumkal (there is also a Tamil version but the Hindi is more accessible/ likely to have English subtitles) that is loosely based on the film Memento but is SO much better. The film is part romance and part action. See the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEccwrX6AgQ

    2) Fanaa (2006)- Hindi film starring Aamir Khan and Kajol Devgan. Pieces of it are admittedly a bit campy, but overall it’s a good film and it left me with my jaw hanging open at the end the first time I saw it. Trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bd6Z2K5Ye28

  9. Scott says:

I would like to add Cuatro Lunas to the list. Great film with various stages of love. Even the sad stories are beautiful.

  10. Darlene D. says:

True Romance. Okie dokie doggy daddy.

  11. ctencza says:

“You’re alive….if you want, I can fly” kills me every time I hear it. I just melt.

  12. I actually talked about love and film in my YouTube video this week – you might be interested in watching and subscribing! Check it out!
