Light Yellow Urine
The color can range from pale yellow to transparent (water-like). This means your body is properly hydrated. The more water you drink, the lighter will be the color of the urine. This type of urine does not bubble a lot, has a mild smell, has no foam, and is consistent in color. However, you should also consider if there are traces of blood, pain, or difficulty in passing this urine. Clear urine does not always mean that you are in the clear.
Dark Yellow Urine
This is usually not a cause for concern since it only indicates that you are mildly dehydrated. A healthy person should drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. If you are poorly hydrated, there is a lot of waste concentrated in the urine making it appear darker. The odor may also be on the offensive side due to the high concentration of waste.
Apart from dehydration, certain foods, such as asparagus and beet, may also make the urine darker with a strong odor.
Certain conditions may also cause your urine to attain a dark yellow color. These include hemolytic anemia, haematuria and hepatitis.
Pink urine can be innocently caused by some foods, especially those with pink dyes. Any foods that have a lot of red pigmentation can also cause the urine to be pink. Haematuria, the condition where traces of blood can be found in the urine can also cause the urine to seem pink. If there is blood in the urine, then you have kidney, bladder, urethra or prostate issues. This means that you should see your doctor immediately.
Monitor the occurrence of this phenomenon. If the pink color disappears after a few urinary sessions, then the problem was caused by something you ate. If it lasts for days or weeks then you should see a doctor. If there is pain when urinating, then you should see a doctor since it will mean that your urethra is affected.
Orange urine may be a cause of concern since there are certain medical conditions that cause this. However, it may be a trivial thing and the culprit may be foods high in beta-carotene, which is red in color e.g. carrots. Dehydration can also cause your urine to become orange. Health conditions such as jaundice and other liver conditions can cause the urine to be orange. If your urine is orange, take stock of the food that you ate. If it does not have foods that may cause this change, then you need to see a doctor immediately. If this color persists for a day or two, then there is definitely an underlying medical problem that needs to be addressed.
Once again, certain foods can cause your urine to become red. You must see if you had eaten foods that had a lot of red dye in them. Severe haematuria, where blood is found in the urine, can also cause the urine to become dark red, or almost brown. This indicates a very serious problem in your prostate gland, kidney or bladder. You should see a doctor urgently.
You should keep a calm mind when you see red urine, given that it is a scary sight. Take an inventory of how you are feeling and also see what you ate. Check with the doctor if any of the drugs that you take, have a bearing in changing the color of urine to red.

This week the sports world was shocked to hear how Chris Borland, a former linebacker of the San Francisco 49ers decided to retire from professional football following his rookie season at the age of 24, citing concerns about his long-term health and the potential effects of head trauma. He is only the latest in a list of players under the age of 30 who have retired in the last week.
It made me think because I’ve had several concussions playing sports and fighting during my lifetime. I wondered about the long term effects of having one or many concussions. Here is a video explaining the health effects of Concussions and a video of Key & Peele about Football Concussions just to light up the mood.
Give us your opinions about athletes retiring early because they fear the long term health effects from concussions?
